Required skills and qualifications

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong project management, multitasking, and decision-making skills

  • Strong understanding of and experience with event budget management

  • Graphic design proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and/or other design software a plus.

  • Social Media: Strategy development, story concepts, writing, design, insertion and analytics.

  • Proficiency with Facebook and Instagram (including reels), Linked-In (for B-to-B), TikTok

Preferred skills and qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in event planning, or related field experience

  • Experience managing a team and setting/achieving shared goals

  • Proficiency with online marketing and social media event management and promotion a plus

  • Proven success in event planning - preferably large-scale community events

  • Strong community advocate with ability to attract and engage community partners, established contacts in the community, businesses, arts organizations, etc.

  • Ability to lift and carry for event setups and logistics

  • Outstanding leader, with exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Computer literacy in basic office applications and google office


Overall Objective: To be the primary facilitator of the new Quarterly Artwalk Program; be the number one cheerleader, promoter, recruiter, and advocate for ArtWalk; and to fulfill the mission, objectives, strategic plan, and the expectations of the CCA Mission and Vision.

Position Description: The ArtWalk Coordinator is responsible for facilitating strong relationships with the broader Arts and Downtown community through the creation and facilitation of large quarterly Downtown Arts festivals. They will provide strong community development and event management; advocate strongly in the community for the CCA; strengthen the ArtWalk program and increase overall community and regional attendance and participation; and help fulfill the goals and objectives of the strategic plan.  They will work closely with the Executive Director and program staff to create and oversee an effective print and social media marketing strategy.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with the Board Committee to develop short-term and long-term program objectives

  • Establish dates/themes a year in advance

  • Secure all City of Abilene and Abilene Police Department required permits

  • Coordinating ArtWalk entertainment and activities including but not limited to:

    •  Search for and secure performers; booking bands and facilitating contracts

    • Oversee rehearsals (if required)

    • Create/buy props and materials for events

    • Create and implement event logistics timelines

  • Serve as a liaison between the Center and ArtWalk Vendors and Partners

  • Work with the Executive Director on the budgeting process and in maintaining the approved ArtWalk budget

  • Promote the ArtWalk program on television, radio, through community speaking engagements and print media (press releases)

  • Some graphic design and social media marketing tasks and content creation

  • Assisting the Executive Director with researching and cultivation of ArtWalk sponsors

Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director


PART-TIME POSITION  |  20 hours per week

COMPENSATION: $19.25/hour + Competitive Vacation, PTO
