Art Brunch + Paint Off
Our most FUN event of the year is BACK as it’s OWN EVENT on March 29, 2025! We loved the Art Brunch + Paint Off so much that we decided it needed it’s own day to accommodate the crowd. So circle the date on your calendar and get your friends together for the most action-packed (and delicious) art event of the year. BUT WAIT - there will be some SURPRISES as we expand this event!
Adult Craft Night: Beer and Bricks
David Reynaud: muralist, artist and Lego builder (David Has 361K followers on TikTok for his Lego Builds) will be the artist instructor for this event, revealing all of his lego knowledge! With you ticket purchase, you’ll receive one lego kit to build a phone charging stand and a charming cigar box (donated by our sponsor The Leaf) that you’ll take home at the end of the night.
All materials, beverages, and snacks are included in ticket. Beverages generously provided by Grain Theory.

Pairing Perfections: Mezcal + Oaxacan Gold
Abilene's cultural scene is set to dazzle with the Mezcal Tasting Sommelier Event, a highlight of the "Pairing Perfections" series, at the Center for Contemporary Arts on August 3, 2024. From 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, guests are invited to indulge in an evening that promises to be an extraordinary blend of art, culture, and exquisite flavors.

Join Art Educator, Abbie Brentham Sandoval, for a week of exploration in art! Students will explore many materials and art processes throughout the week. Students will draw, paint, and make prints as they learn about the hows and whys of being an artist. This camp will be fun and colorful and perfect for a student wanting to try many things.

Precision Portfolio Camp
INSTRUCTOR: Emilio Tolentino
AGES: Entering Grades 9th - 12th
$100 CCA Members | $125 Non-Members
The Center for Contemporary Arts will provide campers with the experience of understanding and creating an art portfolio. Students will learn how to write an art statement and create a sample of works from one big idea. Skills learned will help students create advanced placement portfolios.
Theatre Camp: Take Center Stage!
INSTRUCTOR: Victoria Spangler
AGES: Entering Grades 4th - 6th
The Center for Contemporary Arts will provide campers with the experience of designing a performance piece. Using music, literature and visual art, Dr. Victoria Spangler will help campers create original material from the smallest seed of an idea. Campers will also build costume pieces and props and select music and sound for their pieces. Campers will perform their program to an audience on their last day of camp. *Fee includes all supplies, tote bag, and snacks.
Manga Camp

Welcome to the world of illustration, drawing, and anime. Join Mrs. Connell on an introduction to the world of comics. Students will study artists from around the world including Studio Ghibli, Christopher Hart, Yamamuro, and more. Students will learn from various animators' styles to create their own unique style! Students’ goal will be to leave at the end of the week with their own comic book. *Fee includes all supplies, a tote bag, and snacks.
Painting Secrets Camp

Painting tips and tricks will be covered in this fun class. Campers will work with different kinds of paint and will learn about color and different artists. Students will learn about the different styles of painting and will go home with their own masterpieces.
3D BUILDING BONANZA CAMP

Campers will learn the joy of creating with 3/D. Students will have a variety of projects that deal with building. Students will leave camp with a good understanding of sculpture and 3/D.
Beginning Photography Camp

Campers will learn basic skills of digital photography using digital Kodak cameras owned by the Center. Campers will enjoy a downtown excursion, a photo safari at the Abilene Zoo, and editing in the McMurry University Photo Lab.

This is not just another cowboy show—it's a celebration of the modern West like you've never seen before.
